As always, the most prevalent are linguistic articles on Altai, Bashkir, Kumyk, and Tuvan, as well as a work on Mongolian vocabulary in Orkhon inscriptions. Literary studies is presented by articles dedicated to Bekir Choban-zadeh’s (famous Turkologist) and Tansulpan Garipova’s (modern Bashkir author) literary output. The “History of science” section introduces readers to the history of literary translation of Uzbek children’s prose into Russian. One can find also a dedication to the 100th A.T. Kaydarov’s and 90th A.S. Amanzholov’s anniversaries (both are prominent Kazakh scientists). The 85th anniversary of I.V. Kormushin, the Executive editor of this journal, is accompanied by reminder of his contribution to the Old Turkic script studies. Kh.Yu. Minnegulov, a famous Tatar scholar, who did much to develop Turkology in Tyumen is also mentioned in this issue, as well as Karakalpak folklorist from Uzbekistan S. Bakhadirova. A.A. Chechenov and I.S. Nasipov, linguists from Russia, are also honoured in the pages.
